TECHNICAL INFORMATIONS

Component waterproofing

We measure a fabric's resistance to water pressure, expressed in terms of the height of a water column in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. Components scoring 2000 mm can resist the pressure from 2000 mm of water (which is equivalent to a rain shower lasting two hours). Waterproofing is expressed in schmerbers (for example: This number is before washing.

Windproof effect

Coating applied to the fabric makes it waterproof and windproof. Waterproof fabric has the necessary technical characteristics to be considered windproof. Protection from the wind is critical, as whether playing sports or at rest, wind can chill the body significantly.

Component breathability

Component breathability is measured by its thermal evaporative resistance (RET).

This is its capacity to let water vapour generated by the body during physical activity escape and therefore avoid water accumulating on the skin.

The lower the RET, the more breathable the fabric.

very breathable fabric

RET ≤ 12: breathable fabric

RET ≤ 20: little breathability

Our product has a 12 RET rating

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

We have improved this product with an eco-design approach.

During the design phase, we optimised the placement of the different parts of the jacket in the roll of material (minimal waste) in order to reduce offcuts. We use the biton technique for the jacket’s inner lining. Finally, the main component is up to 74% recycled.

OUR COMMITMENT TO CONSUME LESS WATER WITH THIS PRODUCT

Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths. To reduce our environmental impact, we only use one mass-dyed yarn out of every two (biton), and thus reduce our consumption and our impact on water.

Product design: our expertise

Our Quechua global design centre is based in Passy, at the foot of Mont-Blanc in Haute Savoie.

This location makes it a real meeting place for our teams (designers, product managers, engineers, etc) and outdoor sports enthusiasts.

A great asset for designing your mountain walking products and providing you with all our expertise.
