About the Jetstream series
The Jetstream (which replaces the Satelite Gravity range) is Babolat's mid-range series and is designed for INTENSIVE PLAY. These rackets have two major technologies for better aerodynamics and less weight for greater ease of handling and accuracy.
Weight
74 g +/- 3 g - 6U (70-74 g).
The weight of a racket, given in grams, typically ranges between 60 and 100 g. These rackets are grouped by weights, indicated by units called "U". Lighter rackets are more manoeuvrable, comfortable and easier on the arm, allowing for faster swinging. Meanwhile, heavier rackets give you more power.
Flexibility
Semi stiff.
Shafts can range from flexible to rigid. A flexible shaft will be more forgiving and comfortable during play, and also help you easily hit into the backcourt. Meanwhile, a stiff shaft offers more propulsion and accuracy, but does require sufficient swing speed.
Balance
Head light (300 mm +/- 5 mm).
A racket's balance refers to the way its weight is distributed from the base of the racket handle to the balance point. A grip-biased racket will be more manoeuvrable and responsible, which is perfect for defensive players. On the flip side, a head-heavy racket will feel heavier in the hand and be harder to swing, but it will give you more power, which offensive players will appreciate.
Composition
HM Graphite.
Steel and aluminium models are suited to recreational play. Graphite/aluminium or all-graphite models are best for novice and regular players. Finally, rackets made from High-Modulus Graphite and other materials like tungsten are designed for intermediate players with an intense playing style.
Length
675 mm.
The size of a children's racket depends on the age of the player. A 540 mm racket is ideal for children aged 4-6, while a 620 mm model is suitable for 7-11 year-olds. However, as soon as a child reaches an intermediate level, it's advisable to switch to an adult racket.
Grip size
G5 small.
Racket handle diameters generally vary from 75 to more than 90 mm. A thicker handle will give you a better grip, but makes changing grips harder, while a thinner handle is more agile for a faster swing.
Original strings
The racket comes pre-strung with black Babolat Ifeel string with a gauge of 0.70 mm.
Thicker strings are more durable, while thinner strings give you a better feel and more accuracy, but break more quickly. Flexible strings are good for longer shots, while stiff strings give you more snap and better control. Lastly, a rough texture will increase spin and rotation of the shuttle.
Original tension:
Factory tension: 8-9 kg.
Tension recommended by the brand: 8-12 kg / 18-27 lbs. The tension is given in kilograms (kg) or pounds (lb). Rackets are typically strung at 9 kg (20 lbs), but this tension can decline over time.
Recommended tension
8-12 kg / 18-27 lbs. Every brand recommends a maximum tension for their rackets to prevent the string or frame from breaking while stringing or hitting. The string tension affects the ball. Low tension offers a more comfortable feel and makes long shots easier. High tension offers better accuracy, more snap and a nicer sound, but it is more sensitive, especially for off-centre hits. Adapt the tension to your needs and playing style.
Stringing:
22x23.
The string pattern is expressed in the number of vertical strings x the number of horizontal strings. In badminton, you say mains and crosses on a racket. This configuration increases grip and improves spin.
String pattern: mains ⨯ crosses, Stringing instructions for 72 eyelets: A = top, B = bottom
4 knot stringing instructions. Mains: start from top centre and continue stringing, alternating left and right every 2 mains to B12 (skip B11) and finish by tying a knot at B8. Crosses:start the crosses at the bottom from B9 and tie a knot at B7. Keep on stringing from the bottom to A7 and finish by tying a knot at A6.
Shot Optimizer
The frame shape was modified to increase the head size to 360 sq cm (55.8 in). The larger head size gives the racket a larger sweet spot (the ideal hitting spot) to make it more forgiving.
Ultra light
Ultra Light technology provides a very light weight that increases speed and ease of handling.
Slim T
The built-in T-joint was designed to increase the racket's aerodynamics and manoeuvrability.
