Eco-design
Our design choices reduce the product's environmental impact.
We use the dope dyeing process (yarn dyed in bulk) which reduces the consumption of water and energy. We have also optimised the poncho design, its patronage, to reduce scrap fabric as much as possible. Today, on this model, the fabric wastage is no higher than 3% when it used to be 11% previously.

What is bulk dyeing?
Textile dyeing requires a lot of water but also produces waste water from the dye baths.
To reduce the environmental impact, we have opted for mass pigmentation (also called Dope Dye), integrating the colour pigments from initial thread manufacture.
We use this dyeing process on 100% of the product.

Care
Use a waterproof spray or wash-in product to restore the water repellent property of the fabric and optimise the performance of your garment throughout its lifetime.
Waterproofing of the garment
this garment has been validated in a shower test under 12 cm rain for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
Component breathability
Our range of rain ponchos and capes does not have breathable waterproof membranes. We therefore recommend this product when you walk at a gentle relaxed pace rather than a fast hike, in order to reduce sweating!
Component water resistance
A fabric is water repellent when it allows water slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from soaking up water and keeps it lightweight, warm and breathable. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment needs to be renewed throughout the lifetime of the garment (every 3 washes).
All the Forclaz ponchos and capes have a water repellent treatment.
